The Olmsted Republicans 2nd annual polar plunge happened Saturday afternoon, February 13. There were 7 plungers this year, up from 4, last: Aaron Miller Cheryl Champa (a repeater from 2015) Senator Dave Senjem Fran Bradley Jennifer Miller Julie Zuehlke (a repeater from 2015) Penny Louise Flavin Unfortunately, Julie couldn’t plunge due to a funeral for a dear friend. The team raised $2,701 for the Special Olympics, led by Penny Louise’s $1,102! Overall, the Rochester event involved 935 plungers who raised about $245,000 for Special Olympics. We’re hosting our second charity garage sale. All proceeds will be donated to Rochester’s center of the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge, restoring hope to people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. We invite you to: “Bring Your Stuff” for donation to the garage sale Thursday, June 18, from 10 am to 7 pm (please no major appliances, big exercise equipment, old computer equipment, or non-working electronics) “Buy Some Stuff” at the sale Friday, June 19, from 9 am to 6 pm Saturday, June 20, from 9 am to 12 pm Both the drop off and sale of items will be at the Olmsted Country Fairgrounds, Building 40.
