Representative Walz, Thank you for providing your constituents an opportunity to provide feedback on the ARRA. Egregious, sir, is a lack of objective reflection on what got us to this point. Without an honest understanding of its causes, we cannot reasonably solve the problems caused. That is not a partisan perspective. No small part of the collapse started with lending practices encouraged and litigated by the Clinton administration. That is not a partisan observation. Those policies may have had good intentions — home ownership for the poor — but they were based on either a misreading of cause and effect or something else. It took a while for the chickens to come home to roost but roost they have.
